Entry Level Labor Training

In April 2020, we added 12 hours of introductory labor training for Job Corps as part of SolarLandscape’s NJ Community Solar Pilot Program.

This content combines with our material selection and NEC classes to create a solid 20 hour introductory training program for your entry level labor new hires.

If you would like to register your new hires for this program, please purchase a general admission ticket.

Program Description:

2 hour material selection lecture
12 hours of introductory field concepts: flashing, fall protection, material handling, project documentation, concrete block diagrams, etc.
6 hours of NEC

Our program improves the quality of your labor on the job site, by preparing students for things they should know before their first day on a solar job site. It includes access to our real time classroom, and can be upgraded to NABCEP education paths later.

It runs at a slower pace than our other classes and includes educational cartoons as well as manufacturer installation videos. We can customize the training plan to fit the products you install.

60 Hour NABCEP Training

Whoa there buddy. If you don’t have any solar installation project lead experience, you probably want to get started with our 40 Hour Young Professional training and consider obtaining a NABCEP PV Associate credential.

This program is for solar installers who have or intend to get documentation of project leadership experience, on installed and permitted solar projects.

This can be an introduction to solar class for a very aggressive electrician. Or the first few hours can serve as a review before you get into more advanced concepts.

It is a very comprehensive class, consisting of our core curriculum, plus manufacturer installation training videos, as well as a catch all class on solar professionalism that covers all of the NABCEP Job Task Analysis up through PV Design Specialist. While the focus is on solar industry career development, through both technical proficiency and advancing project design concepts, we do provide comprehension for many of the difficult NABCEP examination topics.

Our standard recommendation to anyone preparing for advanced NABCEP exams is to get your OSHA10 right before the exam, run through a couple master electrician practice exams, and understand solar design. The majority of this program is spent on the last part.

Registration directly on this website enrolls you with one of our accredited provider partners, such that you will be eligible to take the NABCEP PVA exam upon completion. Registration does not include any NABCEP application or examination fees.

40 Hour New Hire Training

This training was originally written for Solar Landscape’s Solar Installation Career Training for an audience of Edison Job Corp students.

It serves as a 40 hour introduction to solar power, with an emphasis on preparing young craft labor professions (HVAC, carpenters, roofers, electricians, and other new hires) for their first days on a jobsite.

We start with an industry overview, plus electricity and solar design basics. We spend a few hours on safety (this is not an OSHA course) and then we move onto installation. We watch a few manufacturer installation videos and provide commentary along the way.

NABCEP Recertification

We directly register our program with NABCEP to meet 100% of the NABCEP re-certification requirements for most PV certificates.

The only exception is that we only have 6 hours of NEC code content at this time so PV inspectors will have to get 2 hours of NEC training elsewhere. We will resolve that in future program updates.

If you need NABCEP recertification, please register here.
